Reducir - Reutilizar - Reciclar - Reparar y Recuperar (5R) 

Reducir:

La firma trabaja sus colecciones a pre order, por lo que cada material es aprovechado hasta el final y a veces se compra la cantidad necesaria para realizar un producto en particular. Reducimos al máximo la posibilidad de generar desperdicio textil. El método muestra / pre order es el mejor método para llevar a cabo este ítem.

Reutilizar: 

Otro camino en vías de no generar desperdicio es que se está lentamente desarrollando nuevos productos a partir de retazos textiles que genera GV con el fin de que cada vez que sobre X cantidad de un material, esta se pueda reutilizar a través del desarrollo de una pieza nueva o antigua con ese aire original, único y hecho bajo un comercio justo. 

Reciclar:

GV en su compromiso de reducir lo más posible el desecho / desperdicio de materiales que trabaja en sus colecciones desde el 2018 a la fecha ha sido por medio del rescate textil antiguo -vintage- chileno que revive en este presente y espera ser heredado debido a su calidad y confección.  

Reparar: 

¡No tires la ropa a la basura o terminará en los cerros de ropa del desierto de Atacama! En GV ofrecemos reparar la prenda. Acuérdate que tu abuelita remendaba hasta los calcetines más viejos. Es momento de poner manos a la obra y dejar de ver a la ropa como si fuera desechable.

Es por esto que a partir de Octubre de 2021 empezamos a recibir ciertas prendas que hayan sufrido algún accidente y/o su período haya terminado. Así con el fin de cumplir con las 5R, ofreceremos lo siguiente anuestros clientes que nos acompañan desde el 2018:

Por el retorno de una pieza GV, regalaremos un 30% de descuento para una nueva compra en Guido Vera. Para acceder a este descuento, nos debes enviar la pieza para que nosotros le busquemos el final ideal y así no termine en la basura. 

Recuperar: 

Este principio es muy útil y va en ocasiones íntimamente ligado con el de reciclar y reutilizar ya que se trata de recuperar lo irrecuperable. 

La idea es aprovechar al máximo las prendas y las partes que lo componen para que vuelvan a ser útiles y funcionen como repuestos. El mercado de segunda mano es un gran ejemplo de cómo recuperar piezas.

De la ropa se pueden recuperar botones, cremalleras, etiquetas, etc. ¡El límite está en tu imaginación!

¿Por qué nos interesa todo esto?

Por los altos niveles de contaminación y la producción de residuos son un problema de todos y para todos, cambiar la tendencia depende de todos nosotros. Si tomamos la decisión correcta y hacemos lo que está a nuestro alcance para aprovechar los recursos conseguiremos entre todos un mejor futuro para el planeta, para las futuras generaciones y para nosotros mismos.

 Reduce - Reuse - Recycle - Repair and Recover (5R)

Reduce:

The firm works its collections to pre-order, so each material is used until the end and sometimes the quantity necessary to make a particular product is purchased. We minimize the possibility of generating textile waste. The sample/pre order method is the best method to carry out this item.

Re-use:

Another way to avoid generating waste is that new products are slowly being developed from textile scraps generated by GV so that every time there is X amount of a material left over, it can be reused through the development of a piece. new or old with that original, unique air and made under fair trade.

Recycle:

GV in its commitment to reduce as much as possible the waste / waste of materials that works in its collections from 2018 to date has been through the rescue of old -vintage- Chilean textiles that revives in this present and hopes to be inherited due to its quality and tailoring.

Repair:

Don't throw your clothes in the trash or they will end up in the clothes piles of the Atacama Desert! At GV we offer to repair the garment. Remember that your grandmother mended even the oldest socks. It's time to get to work and stop seeing clothes as if they were disposable.

This is why starting in October 2021 we begin to receive certain garments that have suffered an accident and/or their period has ended. Thus, in order to comply with the 5Rs, we will offer the following to our clients who have been with us since 2018:

For the return of a GV piece, we will give away a 30% discount for a new purchase at Guido Vera. To access this discount, you must send us the piece so that we can find the ideal ending so that it does not end up in the trash.

Recover:

This principle is very useful and is sometimes closely linked to recycling and reusing since it is about recovering what is irrecoverable.

The idea is to make the most of the garments and the parts that make them up so that they become useful again and function as spare parts. The second-hand market is a great example of how to recover pieces.

Buttons, zippers, labels, etc. can be recovered from clothing. The limit is in your imagination!

Why are we interested in all this?

Due to the high levels of pollution and the production of waste, they are a problem for everyone and for everybody, changing the trend depends on all of us. If we make the right decision and do what is in our power to take advantage of resources, we will all achieve a better future for the planet, for future generations and for ourselves.

Thank you for taking the time to learn how we approach sustainability, traceability, and fair craftsmanship at GUIDO VERA.

Since 2018, we have understood design as a way to rethink the relationship between materials, people, and place. What began as a search for alternatives to animal-derived materials has evolved into an ongoing research practice focused on circularity, textile heritage, and material innovation.

Our strongest commitment remains Chilean textile recovery. We work with deadstock fabrics sourced from warehouses, former factories, and long-standing textile suppliers across Santiago. Many of these textiles were originally produced in Chile by historic manufacturers such as Sumar, while others are imported surplus fabrics from past decades that we carefully reintegrate into new collections.

Over the years, we have incorporated recycled materials, bio-based alternatives, and lower-impact fibers sourced from Chile, Peru, and Mexico, continuously evaluating their performance, traceability, durability, and long-term viability.

We believe sustainability is not a fixed position—it is an ongoing practice of observation, adaptation, and responsible decision-making.

Textile Recovery "deadstock"

We also prioritize premium trims and components designed to extend the lifespan of every garment.

Material Innovation

VINYLIFE (2019)

In 2019, we introduced four garments made with VINYLIFE, one of Chile's first non-animal leather alternatives developed using recycled PET. This marked the beginning of our research into alternative material systems.

Nopal Cactus Leather (2020–2024)

We later incorporated bio-based cactus leather developed in Zacatecas, Mexico.

Made from mature nopal cactus leaves grown with minimal water consumption, the material is produced by harvesting, cleaning, crushing, and naturally sun-drying the leaves before transforming them into a textile surface.

This innovation allowed us to expand our material research while contributing to the global conversation around alternatives to conventional leather.

Throughout our collections, we have also worked with:

Each material has been selected as part of an ongoing investigation into environmental impact, durability, availability, and territorial relevance.

Circular Wool & Chilean Textile Heritage

More recently, our research has expanded to include local wool systems and traditional textile knowledge from southern Chile.

We now work with circular wool sourced from local sheep farmers in the Aysén Region. The wool is professionally scoured and prepared by Lanas Confluencia in Chillán before being naturally dyed and hand-knitted in Lago Ranco by artisan Verónica Rojas and her team.

We have also incorporated archival Bellavista Oveja Tomé wool—one of Chile's most significant textile legacies—giving new life to existing fibers while preserving an important chapter of the country's industrial heritage.

In parallel, we collaborate with artisans from Chiloé, including Jimena Millapel and Marcia Mansilla, whose work combines natural dyeing, traditional weaving, and handcraft techniques with our contemporary design practice.

Together, these collaborations form what we call Human Ecosystems: networks of people, knowledge, and territories that shape every garment we create.

Pima Cotton

A naturally hypoallergenic fiber renowned for its softness, durability, and exceptional performance over time.

Tanguis Cotton

Originally developed in Peru in the late nineteenth century, Tanguis cotton is known for its long fibers, excellent dye absorption, and outstanding textile quality.

GOTS Certification

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certifies textiles containing at least 70% organic fibers while ensuring strict environmental and social standards throughout production.

Devoluciones:

En GUIDO VERA aceptamos devoluciones solo en caso de fallas comprobables de fábrica, dentro de los 7 días hábiles posteriores a la entrega de la pieza.
Nos haremos cargo del costo de envío al taller, pero el retorno de la prenda (ya reparada) corre por cuenta del cliente.

No se aceptan devoluciones por disconformidad subjetiva o por no cumplir “expectativas personales”.

Servicio de reparación en el tiempo:

Diseñamos pensando en la durabilidad. Si con el tiempo tu prenda presenta problemas en cierres, costuras, tapas, etiquetas u otros detalles de confección, podemos ayudarte.

• El servicio de reparación es gratuito.

• El envío de entrada y salida del taller debe ser gestionado y pagado por el cliente.

• También puedes retirar o ingresar tu prenda presencialmente en nuestro showroom (o enviar a alguien en tu nombre con previo aviso).

Envíos:

• Región Metropolitana (RM):
  • Retiro gratuito en showroom (Vitacura Santiago)
  • Despacho a domicilio (solo Santiago centro, Providencia, Las Condes, Vitacura, La Dehesa, Los Trapenses): $4.900 CLP

• Regiones de Chile (excepto Punta Arenas):
  • Envío estándar: $10.000 CLP

• Punta Arenas:
  • Envío especial: $0 CLP

Adicional:

Trabajamos bajo un modelo de moda lenta y consciente. El plazo estándar de producción es de hasta 25 días hábiles, pero en caso de:

• Demoras en la importación de insumos

• Sobrecarga en nuestros talleres

• Causas de fuerza mayor o razones de salud de nuestros trabajadores

…los tiempos podrían extenderse. Preferimos esperar una semana más y mantener la calidad antes que forzar un sistema que precariza. Nuestra promesa: no esclavizamos a nadie para vestir a nadie.

En situaciones excepcionales que impliquen reembolso (solo evaluadas caso a caso), se realizará un 80% del monto total.

La diferencia corresponde a comisiones de plataformas externas como Transbank, PayPal, Shopify, DHL o Chilexpress, las cuales asumimos como marca.

Los reembolsos se formalizan mediante nota de crédito, enviada por correo electrónico.

No somos fast fashion.
No fabricamos para el descarte.
No seguimos tendencias efímeras.
Nuestro negocio es la moda lenta, ética y con narrativa.

Si ese no es tu lenguaje, esta no es tu marca. Y está bien.

Returns:

At GUIDO VERA, we only accept returns in the case of verifiable manufacturing defects, and within 7 business days of delivery.

We will cover the cost of shipping the garment to our workshop, but the return shipment back to the customer (once repaired) must be paid by the client.

Returns are not accepted for subjective dissatisfaction or unmet “personal expectations.”

Repair service over time:

We design with durability in mind. If, over time, your garment shows issues with zippers, seams, labels, trims, or other structural elements — we can help.

• The repair service is free of charge.

• Shipping to and from the workshop must be arranged and paid for by the client.

• You can also drop off or pick up the garment at our Santiago showroom, or send someone on your behalf (with prior notice).

• Home delivery (Santiago Centro, Providencia, Las Condes, Vitacura, La Dehesa, Los Trapenses): $4,900 CLP

Additional:

We operate under a slow and conscious fashion model. Standard production time is up to 25 business days, but in the case of:

• Delays in imported supplies

• Overload in our local workshops

• Health-related or force majeure events affecting our team

...delivery times may be extended.

We’d rather wait an extra week and maintain our standards than force a system that exploits. We don’t exploit anyone to dress anyone

In exceptional cases where a refund is granted (evaluated case by case), we will refund 80% of the total amount.

The remaining 20% covers fees from external platforms such as Transbank, PayPal, Shopify, DHL, or Chilexpress — which we absorb as a brand.

Refunds are issued via credit note, sent by email.
